The
Belgium Garbage Pail Kids were sold as a test run to see how well the
product would do in Belgium. It is extremely difficult to find
any of the Belgium Garbage Pail Kids product, and it is the rarest out
of the three test sets produced by Topps Ireland Ltd. This
appears to be the only Garbage Pail Kids release sold in Belgium.
As previously mentioned, all of the
text on the Belgium Garbage Pail Kids is French. The Belgium
Garbage Pail Kids were also sold in Jordan. There is no record
of any other countries receiving the French Garbage Pail
Kids. France had their own version of Garbage Pail Kids called
Les Crados, which was probably why the French Garbage Pail Kids were
not sold there. Belgium was more likely to have been the target
for this release, which is why I referred to the series as the
Belgium Garbage Pail Kids. Previously, I had referred to this
release as the Jordan Garbage Pail Kids, but I decided to change the
name after I found out that these cards were sold in
Belgium. French is spoken in some of the other countries in the
Middle East (Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Tunisia) so that
was possibly why you could find French Garbage Pail Kids there.
The Belgium Garbage Pail Kids was
modeled after the United Kingdom Garbage Pail Kids
1st Series. The Belgium Garbage Pail Kids pack wrappers are
almost the same as the United Kingdom Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series
pack wrappers. The wrappers have listings of the ingredients in
several different languages, and one of the listings is in
French. The usage of multiple languages for the ingredient
listings allowed the manufacturer to use the same wrappers for the
United Kingdom Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series and for the Garbage Pail
Kids test sets (Belgium, Holland, and
Germany) The only difference
between the Belgium Garbage Pail Kids pack wrappers and the United
Kingdom Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series pack wrappers is that the
Belgium version have a clear strip at the top and a clear strip at
the bottom of the wrappers.
The Belgium Garbage Pail Kids consist
of only the "a" cards. There are 41 "a"
cards and 3 variation cards, which is exactly half as many cards as
the United Kingdom Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series. The variation
cards for the Belgium Garbage Pail Kids are the same card numbers as
the United Kingdom Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series. The white
arrow on the front of the cards that contained the text
"PEEL HERE" for most of the Garbage Pail Kids releases
in English contained the text "DECOLLER ICI" for the
Belgium Garbage Pail Kids release. |
