Sticker Back Information
Award sticker back "Permissão para Comer Entre as Refições" of the Brazil Gang do Lixo Wanted sticker back "Procurado Por Convidar Assassinos" of the Brazil Gang do Lixo
Sticker 173 Ciro Vampiro of the Brazil Gang do Lixo
Profile sticker back "Lorivan Piro" of the Brazil Gang do Lixo
Sticker 7 Adão Dragão of the Brazil Gang do Lixo
Comic sticker back "Apresentando Dino Sauro" of the Brazil Gang do Lixo
The Brazil Gang do Lixo was comprised of characters and card backs from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series, United States Garbage Pail Kids 2nd Series, United States Garbage Pail Kids 3rd Series, United States Garbage Pail Kids 4th Series, United States Garbage Pail Kids 7th Series, and United States Garbage Pail Kids 8th Series.

From the images above, you can see that there were a few different types of sticker backs.  There were "award" backs that were from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 2nd Series, wanted" backs that were from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 3rd Series and United States Garbage Pail Kids 4th Series, "profile" backs that were from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 7th Series, and "comic" backs that were from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 8th Series.  The card backs from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series were not used for the Brazil Gang do Lixo even though many of the characters from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series were used in the Brazil Gang do Lixo.

Also shown in the images above, you can see that the profile back is for Lorivan Piro, but the character used in the set was named Ciro Vampiro.  The comic back is for Dino Sauro, but the character used in the set was named Adão Dragão.  The comic backs only mention one character in the title even though there were usually two or more characters featured in the comic.  Some of the characters shown on the sticker backs do match up with characters from the set, but most of the characters shown on the sticker backs have new names or were not even part of the set.

The Brazil Gang do Lixo sticker fronts and backs do not match together the same as the United States Garbage Pail Kids.  There were a variety of sticker backs, but each back was used for several different sticker numbers.

The stickers backs were either printed right-side-up or upside-down, but each sticker number was consistently printed the same way.  Since there were duplicate sticker backs in the release, it was possible to find the same sticker backs printed right-side-up for certain sticker numbers and upside-down for other sticker numbers.

Comparison List
The following list compares the sticker numbers and character names of the Brazil Gang do Lixo to the United States Garbage Pail Kids.  The Brazil Gang do Lixo sticker number and character name are listed first.  The United States Garbage Pail Kids Series is listed next.  The United States Garbage Pail Kids card number and character name are then listed.  This list will allow you to see what artwork was used for a certain sticker number, it will allow you to see how the series was arranged, and it will allow you to compare the names of the characters.  The Brazil Gang do Lixo stickers with an asterisk before the number are different than the United States Garbage Pail Kids Series.
The character names and text on the Brazil Gang do Lixo stickers is in Portuguese.

The Brazil Gang do Lixo consists of characters from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series, United States Garbage Pail Kids 2nd Series, United States Garbage Pail Kids 3rd Series, United States Garbage Pail Kids 4th Series, United States Garbage Pail Kids 7th Series, and United States Garbage Pail Kids 8th Series.  In the Brazil Gang do Lixo, there were 31 characters from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 1st Series, 36 characters from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 2nd Series, 26 characters from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 3rd Series, 36 characters from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 4th Series, 40 characters from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 7th Series, and 31 characters from the United States Garbage Pail Kids 8th Series.

The Brazil Gang do Lixo stickers were printed on a couple of different types of paper.  One type of paper is off-white, and it reminds me of a light purple, which is why I refer to the stickers printed on that paper and that have purplish-ink as having purple backs.  The stickers printed on the same paper as the purple backs but with blue ink are referred to as blue backs.  The other type of paper is a yellow crème color, which is why I refer to the stickers printed on that paper as having yellow backs.

The stickers with blue backs and purple backs are somewhat rigid, and the sticker fronts have a plastic-like feel to them even though they are made of paper.  The sticker glue slightly discolors the sticker fronts, which gives them a grayish tint.  It is very easy for the sticker fronts to come loose from the sticker backs, so the stickers with blue backs and purple backs can be somewhat fragile.

The stickers with yellow backs are not discolored by the glue, so the sticker fronts usually look clean and bright.  The yellow backs can either have black ink or brown ink.  The yellow backs with brown ink are less common and were possibly printed that way by mistake.

The stickers with purple backs and the stickers with yellow backs and black text are the most common.  It is not known if it is possible to put together complete sets consisting of each of the different types of backs.  It is possible to find other printing errors such as a sticker that does not have anything printed on the back.  Because of the uncertainty of which types of backs each sticker number could have, I decided not to include the different types of backs on the checklist as variations.  The different types of backs are interesting to collect, but finding anything from this release is very difficult.

Miscut Stickers
Miscut stickers 166 Marina Babo and 126 Miguel Carrossel of the Brazil Gang do Lixo
It is very common to find miscut Brazil Gang do Lixo stickers.  Certain sticker numbers were consistently miscut, and it is difficult to come across those numbers without the problem.  You can see from the image above that sticker number 166 Marina Babo was miscut at both the top and bottom, and it shows a portion of sticker number 126 Miguel Carrossel.  Sticker number 126 was cut significantly shorter than the other stickers in the set.  If you are collecting this release, it is best to just accept these flaws because it may not be possible to find correctly cut stickers for each number.

The Brazil Gang do Lixo sticker album was well-made and combines an excellent variety of characters from the original United States Garbage Pail Kids releases.  The thickness and paper used for the cover of the album is very similar to the thickness and paper used for most coloring books.  The pages of the album stick out slightly less than an eighth of an inch past than the cover, so they are prone to getting damaged along the protruding edge.  The inside of the front cover has a promotional advertisement/introduction to the release, and it was drawn in a similar format to one of the United States Garbage Pail Kids 2nd Series card backs.  From pages 3 to 32 of the album, there are blank areas where you were supposed to adhere each of the stickers from the set.  The front and back of the last page of the album is a form that was to be used for ordering the stickers you were missing for the set.  The order form also doubled as an pre-addressed envelope, which made ordering the stickers a little easier.  The inside of the back cover has a promotion for ordering singles and complete albums for other sets produced by the company, and it also has some instructions for ordering Gang do Lixo singles using the order form.  The back cover has a promotional advertisement for the set on it.

Additional Notes
In Brazil, collectible stickers are called "figurinhas".

Currently, there have been no collectors that have located any unopened packs or full boxes from the Brazil Gang do Lixo, so it is not known if there were 5 stickers per unopened pack and 50 packs per full box.

The 2005 Gang do Lixo release is not covered on this website.  The release was very similar to the United Kingdom Stickers except that the character names and text were in Portuguese.
